0x80180014 – MDM Enroll: Failed (A specific platform or version is not supported)

I recently had an issue autopilot pre-provisoning a Windows 11 device.

The official Microsoft guide https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/mem/intune/troubleshoot-windows-enrollment-errors points you towards the device already existing in intune or there being an enrollment restriction.

In my case it turned out that I had missed checking the basics, and the device was Windows 11 Home.

Pressing Shift + F10 then running systeminfo revealed the incorrect edition.

I ended up doing a basic setup, upgrading the edition with a CSP Home to Pro upgrade and then doing a reset of the device.

After that it proceeded to autopilot as expected.
